Gardening
Spring
We teach students about plants and the environment. They learn where food comes from and even grow their own fruits and vegetables. We also take leftover egg shells from school lunch and use a mortar and pestle to crush them into small dry pieces for fertilizer. The shells can then be used to nourish the plants in our garden. Some years we care for caterpillars and watch transform into butterflies. We also occasionally have class pets like stick bugs, leopard gecko, fish or we bring in animals like chickens for students to observe and learn from.
